Knitting help with the English Method?
I’m very new to knitting, and right now, I’m following the English Method from this site: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knit-stitch
When I get to the end and start a new row, it seems to be getting fatter and fatter each time. How do I prevent this and keep each row even in length?
Count your stitches at the end of each row to be sure you have the number you started with.
Be sure that when you insert the point of the needle into the next stitch, you insert it all the way through the stitch so You Are wrapping the yarn around the shaft of the needle rather than the point. Be sure that you insert the point through the open space of the stitch and do not “split” the yarn, which could lead to making two stitches from one.
Sometimes, a new knitter will start with a tight tension that loosens up as they become more confident. That difference in tension can produce noticeably longer rows (or shorter ones for knitters who start off with a loose tension and tighten up as they go).
